Can information systems support to the improvement of the reaction ability
of a company? How have workflow management systems (wms) in particular
to be technically designed in order to support the goal of organizational
flexibility? This paper focuses in those questions. Methods are presented,
which allow the adaption of workflow models. Furthermore, ways to organize
the negotiation between the paticipants [sic] of an adaption are discussed.
A continuous improvement of workflows becomes practicable at the time when
appropriate wms join with organizational approaches. Where an appropriate
system provides an adequate level of flexibility for the User and management.
Solutions elaborated so far within the research project "Improvement of
business processes with flexible workflow management systems (MOVE)" are
presented here.
